Celebrating Mothers

An ode to my mother and a Mother’s Day Gift Guide

If you've been following me for a long time, you know my mom and I share something pretty special. We're not just mother and daughter—we're also best friends and business partners. It's a bond that means the world to me and is one of the things I'm most proud of in my life. So, for me, when Mother's Day rolls around, it's not just another date on the calendar; it's a chance to truly celebrate her.

Our Mother's Day tradition is a bit unconventional, given that we live in different countries. But distance has never stopped us from making the day memorable. Whether it means hopping on a plane to visit her in Montreal or having her over in New York, we always find a way to be together. Last year was particularly hectic as we were knee-deep in shooting our cookbook. But even with all the craziness, having each other's back made it all worthwhile.

This year, though, is extra special. With the cookbook finally done, we're eagerly awaiting the moment we get to hold the physical copy in our hands. It's a big deal for us—a testament to our hard work and dedication. And what better time to celebrate this achievement than on Mother's Day, honoring the woman who's been by my side through it all.

As the day approaches, it's time to start thinking about how to make the day extra special for that incredible woman in your life. Whether you're celebrating your own mom, a mother figure, or even yourself as a mom, there are plenty of ways to make the day memorable. Here are some ideas to inspire your Mother's Day celebration:

  1. Hosting Brunch: Who doesn't love a good brunch? As you all know by now, I love hosting. You can get creative in the kitchen and whip up a homemade brunch spread together. It's a relaxed and enjoyable way to start the day.

  2. Outdoor Activity: If your mom enjoys spending time outdoors, plan a day in nature. Go for a leisurely hike, pack a picnic to enjoy in the park, or simply take a stroll around the neighborhood. It's a great opportunity to soak up some sun and enjoy each other's company.

  3. Spa Retreat: Treat her to a pampering session with a massage, facial, or manicure—it's the ultimate way to help her unwind and de-stress.

  4. Heartfelt Gifts: Show her how much she means to you with a thoughtful and heartfelt gift. It could be a homemade card or a personalized piece of jewelry. And with this said, we prepared a gift guide below for all mothers out there.
